For those in the market, there were several new carry pistols introduced at the 2025 SHOT Show in Las Vegas in January. Let’s take a look at a few new semi-autos, then a few revolvers.
With a 3.5-inch barrel and double-stack magazine, Kahr Arms X9 9mm pistol is suitable for concealed carry and other self-defense chores. It’s only 6.125 inches in overall length and weighs just over a pound when loaded with 10 rounds. MSRP is $549.
Springfield Armory’s new Prodigy Compact is another new 9mm with a 3.5-inch barrel that would make a good carry gun. It has a 15-round double-stack magazine, along with tritium sights for ease in shooting in low light. Prices start at $1,549.
For revolvers, the Diamondback SDR is a 2-inch-barreled, .357 Magnum double-action revolver that holds six rounds. It is available in highly polished stainless steel or non-reflective Black Nitride + finish, and features a Hogue black rubber grip. MSRP is $821.
The Kimber K6XS is a versatile .38 Special snubby rated for +P ammo. Its aluminum alloy frame ensures it’s not too heavy to carry, and the 2-inch barrel makes concealing it easy with the proper holster. A six-shot revolver, it has an MSRP of $679.
The Many Factors of Concealed Carry Selection
Ultimately, you’ll quickly learn that choosing a carry handgun is a series of compromises. This includes such factors as size, recoil, power, and concealability. In the end, choose one that is easy to conceal, that you can shoot well, and that packs enough punch to stop an attacker.
